BugSplat Launches Automated Crash Monitoring and Analysis Service For Applications Deployed at a Software Vendors Customer Sites

Henniker, NH January 25, 2005 - BugSplat announced today the commercial release of Bugsplats online crash analysis service which automatically reports and analyzes crashes occurring in applications deployed at customer sites. This innovative service provides software development and QA teams with the on-line crash incident data and summary analysis required to identify and fix the most serious customer and application problems.

Software crashes in the field continue to be the most elusive and difficult problem for software developers. In the past, support departments relied on users to describe the crash situation, but resolving crash issues with this question and answer method is time-consuming, unreliable and expensive. BugSplat provides support and engineering teams with hard and reliable field crash data allowing them to quickly determine the cause, fix the problem, and keep the customer satisfied.

Using Microsoft minidump technology, BugSplat can capture every application crash and automatically update the applications crash library located on the BugSplat server. Crash data analysis provides the engineering team with a clear understanding of frequency, severity, and relationships of application crashes. Reports include detailed symbolic information about the state of the application at the time of the crash including stack trace with code line numbers and function names, executable modules loaded, register values, IP address of user, and, optionally, user added description of the error.

Once a resolution is developed, the vendor can use the automatic response system to supply the end-user organization with automated patch notifications and fixes for known crashes.

Bugsplat is available for Windows or web applications. Source code access is not required and application performance is not affected.
